Breeding and genetic analysis on the multiplasmic lines in maize (Zea mays L.). III. Electron microscope observations on starch grains in the endosperm of maize seed

Breeding and genetic analysis on the multiplasmic lines in maize (Zea mays L.). III. Electron microscope observations on starch grains in the endosperm of maize seed

Maize Genetics Cooperation Newsletter 72: 13-14

Of 11 multiplasmic inbred maize lines studied, starch grains in the endosperm of 3 lines (su1, sh2 and bt1) were mainly spherical and packed tightly while those of 4 cytoplasmically male sterile inbreds (T, S, C and 21A) were mostly irregular and packed loosely, except for (T)Mo17, whose starch grains were tightly packed.
