Carfentrazone-ethyl (Spotlight 24 EC): new perspective for potato haulm desiccation

Carfentrazone-ethyl (Spotlight 24 EC): new perspective for potato haulm desiccation

Mededelingen Faculteit Landbouwkundige en Toegepaste Biologische Wetenschappen, Universiteit Gent 63(3a): 779-788

Carfentrazone-ethyl was evaluated as potato desiccant during 1995-96 in France and the UK, using a formulation of 50% WG at 40 and 80 g/ha + mineral oil. Desiccation of leaves and stems was evaluated up to 3 weeks after application. The observed desiccation was on average slower and lower than control herbicides Indeed, 2-3 weeks were necessary to reach an acceptable desiccation level. A more aggressive formulation, Spotlight 24 EC (240 g/litre) was evaluated in Belgium during 1997.
