Analysis on 23 wheat varieties 12 days after inoculation with Erysiphe graminis f.sp. tritici showed that all wheat varieties with differing resistances to wheat powdery mildew had similar changes in superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels. SOD activity was positively correlated with the resistance to wheat powdery mildew.
