Comparative evaluation of S41 and M5 mulberry genotypes (Morus spp.). I. Effect of plant spacings and methods of leaf harvest on leaf yield and leaf moisture content
Comparative evaluation of S41 and M5 mulberry genotypes (Morus spp.). I. Effect of plant spacings and methods of leaf harvest on leaf yield and leaf moisture content
S41 is a male, aneuploid (2n = 46) mutant characterized by rapid rooting and shoot growth and early maturity of leaves. To test the suitability of S41 for more than 5-6 harvests/year and compare it with the standard genotype M5, a field trial in split plot design was carried out with 60 x 30 cm and 60 x 60 cm spacings, and whole shoot and leaf picking harvesting at frequencies of 5, 6 and 7 harvests/year over 3 years (1990-93) under irrigated conditions.
