Cooperative tourism planning in a developing destination



Journal of Sustainable Tourism 6(1): 52-68



A normative model of tourism planning is presented which requires cooperation between government agencies, various administrative levels of government, same-level autonomous polities, and the public and private sectors. These cooperative planning principles are examined in the context of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where it was found that they are not a part of the planning practices already in place.
