In a field study on sandy soil at Shafter Research Station, California, cotton Acala Maxxa and Pima S-7 were given 6 different water application rates through a subsurface drip system on a 2-acre plot. Cutout occurred 4 days earlier for each 10% decrease in the full-canopy pan coefficient, for both Pima and Maxxa. The Maxxa was ready to defoliate 4.8 days earlier for each 10% decrease in the pan coefficient.
