Extreme weather conditions during the winter of 1996-97 caused considerable winter kill damage in winter barley, winter wheat and winter triticale in Brandenburg, Germany, especially on the experimental farm in Guterfelde. The chill conditions for winter cereals from the mid-December to early January are outlined in an agrometeorological analysis.
