Disease control in Philippine 'Carabao' mango with preharvest bagging and postharvest hot water treatment

Disease control in Philippine 'Carabao' mango with preharvest bagging and postharvest hot water treatment

Acta Horticulturae 455: 797-804

ISSN/ISBN: 0567-7572

Preharvest (2 months after flowering initiation) wrapping of mango Carabao fruits (grown at Tanay, Rizal province, Philippines) with brown paper or newspaper was investigated. At the packing house after field sorting, bagging resulted in at least 70% of fruits being of export quality, compared with 50% of unbagged fruits. Rejection in unbagged fruits was due to insect damage (30%), scab (23%) and deformities (14%).
