Economic prospects for organic farming of field vegetables

Economic prospects for organic farming of field vegetables

PAV Bulletin Vollegrondsgroenteteelt (August): 3-5

Fifteen Dutch organic farms cultivating field vegetables were monitored during 1993-97, and family income from the farm (related to total amount of family labour) and financial returns/Dfl 100 of costs were compared with results from comparable non-organic farms. No major differences in family income and financial returns were found between farming systems. However, results for organic farms varied according to net financial farm results (low, average and high).
