In a field trial during kharif at Patherchatta, Uttar Pradesh, India, cowpeas Pusa Komal were sown on 23 June, 3, 13 or 23 July or 3 August. Plant height and diameter, and fresh and dry weight per plant were greatest with sowing on 23 June, while most of the growth characters were lowest with sowing on 3 August.
