Effect of feeding urea treated rice and wheat straw on total and straw dry matter intake and milk yield of lactating buffaloes under farmers conditions

Effect of feeding urea treated rice and wheat straw on total and straw dry matter intake and milk yield of lactating buffaloes under farmers conditions

Working Paper Lumle Agricultural Research Centre ( 97/62): 7 pp.

Two experiments were conducted to study the effect of urea treatment of rice and wheat straws on feed intake and milk yield of buffaloes in late lactation in various out-reach sites of Lumle Agricultural Research Centre under farm management conditions in 1995 and 1997. Farmers' perception of the technology was collected at the end of the experiment. Chemical treatment of straw increased DM intake over untreated straw and improved milk yield.
