Effect of gamma irradiation on in vitro multiple shoot cultures of banana (Musa species)

In vitro multiple shoot cultures of six cultivars of banana (Musa species) belonging to different genomic groups (Basrai, Shreemanti and Lal Kela (AAA), Rasthali (AAB), Karibale Monthan (ABB) and a wild diploid (BB)) were irradiated with gamma rays (0-100 Gy doses at 20 Gy/min). In general, the cultivars with hybrid genomes were more vulnerable compared with those with a single genome type.
