An investigation showed that uterine infection occurred in 390 of 1185 cows after calving, with 206 cows (52.8%) showing clinical signs, and 184 cows (47.2%) having latent infections, which could be overlooked, but could result in significant losses to production because of delayed mating. Postpartum monitoring and care were, therefore, imperative for the control of such uterine infection and the improvement of pregnancy rate.
