Effect of moisture conservation techniques and nitrogen on growth and yield of rainfed rabi sorghum

The effect of five soil moisture conservation techniques and the application of 0-50 kg N/ha on rainfed sorghum Swati was studied in a Vertisol in Maharashtra. The growth and yield contributing characters were favourably affected in tied ridges (45 cm apart tied at every 2 m distance) as compared to other moisture conservation techniques. The grain and fodder yields obtained were highest (2.80 and 6.83 t/ha, respectively) with tied ridges followed by ridges and furrows (2.71 and 6.14 t).
