In a trial at Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh, teosinte dry matter yield increased with up to 120 kg N/ha but decreased at the higher rate of 160 kg N. DM yield averaged 11.6, 13.0 and 14.7 t/ha with sowing rates of 30, 40 and 50 kg seed/ha. Leaf area index generally increased with increasing sowing rate and was highest with 80 or 120 kg N at most growth stages. Percentage N was higher with 80 or 120 kg N/ha than at lower fertilizer rates.
