A trial was established in 1994 at Poznan, Poland to investigate the effect of N fertilizers on the mineral composition of the soil and leaves of apples. Trees of the cultivar Sampion were treated with ammonium nitrate at 5 and 10 g N/msuperscript 3 applied in the spring, 5 g + 5 g applied in the spring and at the end of May and the same amount applied to the herbicide strip only.
