In experiments conducted in the 1990 and 1991 rainy seasons at Samaru, in the northern Guinea Savannah (11 degrees 11', 7 degrees 38'E) of Nigeria, Psophocarpus tetragonolobus was given 0, 13 or 26 kg P and 0, 0.5 or 1.0 kg ammonium molybdate/ha, with and without staking. Phosphorus application significantly increased the number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and shelling percentage.
