Effect of planting time and spacing on growth and flower yield of marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) cv. African Yellow

Effect of planting time and spacing on growth and flower yield of marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) cv. African Yellow

South Indian Horticulture 45(1/2): 41-44

In experiments at Bhubaneswar (Orissa), India, rooted cuttings of T. erecta were planted on 1 May, 1 July, 1 September, 1 November or 1 January at 4 plant spacings (30 x 20, 40 x 20, 30 x 30 or 40 x 30 cm). May and July planting gave the greatest number of branches per plant, plant height and stem thickness. Flower buds appeared earlier when cuttings were planted in November or January, but flower yield was highest in the September planting, followed by July and November.
