Effect of seed rate and nitrogen on biomass production and quality of oat (Avena sativa)

Effect of seed rate and nitrogen on biomass production and quality of oat (Avena sativa)

Indian Journal of Agronomy 42(2): 310-312

ISSN/ISBN: 0537-197X

In a field experiment on a silty clay-loam soil during the winter seasons of 1991-93 at Shalimar, Jammu and Kashmir, oats Kent were sown at the rate of 75, 100, 125 or 150 kg seed/ha and given 0, 50, 100 or 150 kg N/ha. Forage and dry matter yields were highest with 150 kg N (40.4 and 8.1 t/ha, respectively) and increased with the sowing rate of up to 125 kg seed/ha.
