Effect of sowing date, nitrogen fertilizer application and sowing rate on yield of spring rape

In field trials in 1994-96 at Borovce, Slovakia, spring rape Lirawell was grown on a degraded chernozem at 14-day intervals and given 40, 80 or 120 kg N + 40 kg P and 60 kg K/ha. Sowing rates were 1.2 or 1.4 million germinable seeds/ha. Average yields were 2.80 t/ha in 1996, 2.44 t in 1995 and 2.35 t in 1994, were highest with the earliest sowing date (2.75 t) and at the highest N rate (2.80 t), but were unaffected by sowing rate.
