In a field experiment in 1989-91 in Orissa, soyabeans Gaurav were sown on 22 June, 2, 12 or 22 July or 1, 11 or 21 August. Delaying sowing decreased seed yield. Populations of Biloba subsecivella (Bilobata subsecivella), Chrysodeixis acuta, Spodoptera litura and Spilosoma obliqua were low in early-sown (22 June and 2 July) soyabeans. Incidence of these pests was high in crops sown between 12 July and 1 August.
