Effect of steroid-free equine follicular fluid on FSH secretion in ewes with seasonal anoestrus and the induction of oestrus in cycling ewes with PGF2 alpha

19 anoestrous ewes in Mexico were treated with 3 ml steroid-free equine follicular fluid (EFF) or with saline solution (controls) every 8 h for 5 days. Blood FSH concentration was significantly lower in EFF-treated ewes than in controls (P<0.05). In a 2nd trial, oestrus was synchronized in 22 cycling ewes using an FGA-impregnated vaginal sponge, and 11 days after oestrus ewes were treated with 15 mg PGF2 alpha to induce luteal regression.
