Effect of steroids on inorganic constituents of maize leaves

Zea mays Ganga-5 plants were sprayed with 10-8, 10-6 or 10-4 M concentrations of steroid sex hormones (estrone, testosterone, pregnenolone acetate or hydrocortisone), cholesterol and plant growth regulators (IAA, GA3 or kinetin) for 10 consecutive days from 12 days after sowing in the experimental plot. Steroids enhanced the contents of nitrogen, phosphorus and iron significantly over the control at lower concentrations.
