In a field trial conducted during the rabi season of 1993/94, application of 20 kg S/ha increased yield components, yield, total water use and water use efficiency of B. juncea, but net returns and cost:benefit ratio were higher from 10 kg S/ha. Seed yield was higher from S applied as gypsum than as pyrites or elemental sulfur.
