Effect of temperature on the development of the bean bug, Riptortus clavatus Thunberg (Hemiptera: Alydidae)

Effect of temperature on the development of the bean bug, Riptortus clavatus Thunberg (Hemiptera: Alydidae)

RDA Journal of Crop Protection 39(1): 25-27

A laboratory study was carried out to investigate the effect of temperature (15-30 degrees C) on the development of Riptortus clavatus in dried kidney bean seeds. The egg periods were 43.4, 19.0, 9.9 and 6.8 days at 15, 20, 25 and 30 degrees C, respectively. Nymphal periods were 76.1, 29.3 and 22.3 days at 20, 25 and 30 degrees C, respectively, and all nymphs died at 15 degrees C after the first moult.
