Yield and number of fruits/tree of sand pear (P. pyrifolia) Hengshan were higher when N fertilizer was applied at bud burst, after June drop or after harvest than on control plots. Applying fertilizer after the June drop significantly increased the horizontal shoot length and number of leaves, and also increased the leaf N concentration compared with the other treatments.
