Effect of tree management practices in alley cropping with Gliricidia sepium on growth and yield of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilcszek)

Effect of tree management practices in alley cropping with Gliricidia sepium on growth and yield of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilcszek)

Tropical Agriculturist 148: 63-74

The effects of different tree management practices in alley cropping of G. sepium with mung bean were studied in both growing seasons of 1992. Two alley widths (2 and 4 m), 2 cutting heights (75 and 150 cm) and 3 pruning frequencies (2, 4 and 5 prunings/year) were tested. Shoot DM yields of G. sepium hedges increased with decreasing alley width, pruning frequency, and increased cutting height.
