Effect of various management strategies on the ratooning ability of sorghum cultivars SV1 and SV2

In a greenhouse experiment, a plant crop of sorghum SV2 was irrigated when soil moisture was depleted to 1, 3 or 15 bars, while the ratoon crop was irrigated when soil moisture was depleted to 3 bars. In a field experiment in Panmure, Zimbabwe, with sorghum SV1 and SV2, ratooned and sown crops were compared, with or without stalk borer (Lepidoptera, not specified) control with carbaryl.
