Effect of zinc and cadmium on the dry matter yield and nutrient uptake of sorghum

In a pot experiment in red or black soil, sorghum was grown with 0-7.5 ppm Zn and 0-50 ppm Cd. Dry matter yield increased with increasing Zn rate and decreased with increasing Cd. Growth was better in the red soil. Plant Zn concentration increased with both Zn and Cd rate, while Cd concentration increased with Cd rate but was generally decreased by Zn.
