Field experiments were conducted in 1993-95 at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute to determine the effect of Sesbania aculeata/S. rostrata green manuring and mung bean (Vigna radiata) residue incorporation on the productivity and plant-N uptake of a rice-wheat cropping system. Sesbania and mung beans were sown in April, then rice in July and wheat in November.
