Effects of different types of goals on processes that support performance

Sport Psychologist 11(3): 277-293

A sample of 37 male golfers from Ashbourne Golf Club, Derbyshire, UK, representing a wide range of standards (mean handicap 13.07, SD 4.10) and ages (mean=44.15 , SD 10.87) were tested to examine the relative efficacy of two different goal setting training interventions on performance and a number of psychological processes thought to support performance in a complex task.
