Effects of feed on feeding patterns in laying hens

Effects of feed on feeding patterns in laying hens

Agrarforschung 5(6): 281-284

Studies were carried out with 12 ISA-Brown hens (age between 56 and 68 weeks of age) to investigate feeding patterns. Three diets (fine vs. coarse particle size distribution) and composition (isoenergetic replacement of starch by fibre and fat) were used. Diurnal distributions of number, size and duration of meals, feed consumption and feeding time per hour were registered. Fine structured feed resulted in longer feeding times per day than coarse diets.
