Abstract
The effect of 375 kg ammonium nitrate fertilizer/ha applied at the double ridge, pistil-stamen primordium formation and tetrad formation stages on yield and protein content winter wheat cv. Lu215953 grain grown in China was studied. The results showed that applying nitrogen at pistil-stamen primordium formation stage and at tetrad formation stage decreased 15N atom% in grains at harvest, increased photosynthetic rate and nitrate reductase activity of the flag and second leaves, enhanced grain yield and improved grain protein content.
