Epidemiologic measures of association between the incidence of mastitis and some of its predisposing factors

Indian Veterinary Journal 75(8): 718-722

Epidemiologic measures of association between the incidence of mastitis and some of its predisposing factors

The Coefficients estimated for the epidemiologic measures of association for the causal factors of mastitis considered in the study viz, cow factor, exotic blood factor in cows, udder/teat abnormality factor, stall hygiene factor and milking hygiene factor were indicative of the fact that these factors might be considered as ones which strongly predispose to mastitis. With lack of empirical evidence on the nature of association between causal factors and disease especially in developing countries like India, the results of the study can surely be helpful in the attempts of preventing the disease concerned. For conceptually sketching out the way the factors are leading to the disease, the results of this study can be of much use.
