Erosion from two soils (chalky brown soil on 20% sandstone slopes and a brown Vertisol on 45% clayey-marl slopes) in the title region was studied. Erosion rates were a function of rainfall and soil moisture variables, whilst cultivation of barley or legumes on the chalky brown soil reduced erosion to less than a third and runoff to a third when compared to a bare soil.
