Estimating the upper limits of carbon pool in phytomass of spruce and fir forests of Northern Eurasia

Estimating the upper limits of carbon pool in phytomass of spruce and fir forests of Northern Eurasia

Russian Journal of Ecology 29(5): 322-330

A spruce (Picea spp.) and fir (Abies spp.) phytomass data bank was compiled on the basis of 100 publications describing data obtained from 400 plots established on areas stretching from West Europe to Japan. The data were used to calculate conversion factors (the ratio of carbon pool in stems, roots, branches, and foliage in t/ha to standing crops in msuperscript 3/ha). Multifactor models for estimating conversion factors in 4 subzones of boreal forests were calculated.
