The mechanism of ethylene action on degreening of intact radish cotyledons was investigated using inhibitors of protein and nucleic acid synthesis. Ethylene treatment enhanced degreening and increased chlorophyll-oxidative enzyme activity of cotyledons maintained in the dark.
