Evaluation of carcass and meat quality in light ovine carcasses of the Ternasco commercial type

Evaluation of carcass and meat quality in light ovine carcasses of the Ternasco commercial type

ITEA Produccion Animal 95A(1): 49-64

The carcass and meat quality were investigated of 155 young male light lambs (9.0-12.5 kg) of 9 types: Aragonese, Spanish Merino, Manchega and Lacaune weaning lambs managed and fed in an intensive regime, German Merinos that had been grass-fed and grain-finished and chilled British and frozen New Zealand and Argentine carcasses from lambs reared extensively. There were many differences in the conformation of these carcasses but these had no significant effect on commercial value.
