Experiment of topworking Hamlin orange to a satsuma mandarin variety



South China Fruits 27(2): 24-25



During 1994-1995, budwood of satsuma mandarin Gongchuan were used to topwork 6-year-old trees of oranges Hamlin, which suffered with canker disease. In 1997, topworked trees started to bear good crops (12.8-25.4 kg/tree compared with 14.5-16.3 kg/tree in the control). Topworked trees exhibited no signs of disease, whereas control trees had 34.5-51.2% diseased leaves.
