Genetic studies on lactation milk yield and lactation length in Murrah buffaloes



Indian Journal of Dairy Science 48(2): 164-166



A study was carried out using data on Murrah buffaloes maintained at the Cattle Breeding Farm, Banavasi, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. Records of 466 Murrah buffaloes during 1976-90 were analysed using the least squares technique to study the effect of period, season and parity. Least squares analysis of variance revealed that period, season and parity had a significant influence on lactation milk yield and on lactation length.
