Genetic variability studies in durum wheat (Triticum durum. Desf.)

During rabi 1992-93, 318 F6 generations from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), Mexico, were evaluated for 11 yield components at the Research and Development Farm, Ugarkhurd, Belggaum District, India, together with 6 control varieties. Biological yield/m and harvest index had moderate variation, heritability and genetic advance. All other characters had low variation and high heritability estimates, except for number of productive tillers and grain yield.
