Genotype x environment interaction for combining ability estimates in castor (Ricinus communis L.)

Combining ability study was conducted over 4 environments to identify best parents and hybrids to develop high yielding varieties and hybrids in castor (R. communis). Four pistillate lines were crossed with 15 inbreds of castor in a line x tester design. The resulting 60 hybrids along with 19 parents were evaluated for yield and related traits in 4 environments (2 locations and 2 seasons) in Cuddalore and Tindivanam, India. Significant G x E interaction was observed for all the traits.
