Haematological and biochemical aspects of experimental trichinellosis in pigs

Haematological and biochemical aspects of experimental trichinellosis in pigs

Lucrari Stiintifice Universitatea de Stiinte Agronomice Bucuresti Seria C, Medicina Veterinara 39: 51-61

In studies on 6 piglets, aged 2 months, that were infected experimentally by feeding with 10 g of meat containing 1500 Trichinella spiralis cysts/g, blood samples were taken for examination after 14 days and 4 months. After 14 days the only significant finding was a decrease in mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC). At 4 months, haematocrit values and mean corpuscular volume were decreased, and MCHC and leukocythaemia increased.
