Histochemical study of pollen development in Bauhinia purpurea L

Journal of Palynology 33(1/2): 1-9

Histochemical study of pollen development in Bauhinia purpurea L

Insoluble polysaccharides, RNA and proteins were localised histochemically in the developing anther tissues of Bauhinia purpurea. The presence of 2-layered thick fibrous endothecium and thick walled tissue surrounding the vascular bundle were important features observed in the anther. The thickenings did not react with PAS reagent or Azure B.
