Histological and histochemical studies on ovaries of oestrus induced acyclic goat

Indian Veterinary Journal 75(9): 796-799, Sept

Histological and histochemical studies on ovaries of oestrus induced acyclic goat

Histological study on goat ovary revealed increasing number of developing and large antral follicles with increasing dose levels of PMSG (300 to 600 IU), while there was a concomitant decrease in the proportion of early antral follicles. The histochemical intensity of the enzymes, G-6-PD, DELTA5-3-beta-HSD and 17-beta-HSD revealed a positive relationship with increasing dose levels of PMSG and increased biosynthesis of the steroid hormones by the ovarian cells. The activity of 17-beta-HSD was observed to be relatively higher in the theca interna cells as compared to other follicular and interstitial cells.
