Histology and histochemistry of caput and corpus epididymis in calves and adult buffaloes

The histology and histochemistry of caput and corpus epididymis of each of 6 non-descript buffalo calves, six months old and adult buffalo was studied. The organs were covered by a thick fibrous capsule and connective tissue stroma of tunica albuginea. The alveoli and ducts were lined with tall columnar epithelium in the caput epididymis of calves and it was pseudostratified columnar with branched stereocilia in corpus epididymis of calves and adult animals. The epithelium was followed by lamina propria and thin investment of loose muscularis mucosa. PAS reaction for glycogen was mild in calves and moderate in adult animals.
