How big and how many?

The optimum size for a sugar factory and its equipment items depends on local conditions, but from the performance viewpoint it appears that a large milling factory should have only one tandem (mills with roller length ~2.5 m and daily capacity ~20 kt cane at 12.5% fibre), whereas a diffusion factory should have 2 or 3 diffusers, since the optimum/maximum capacity of cane diffusers is 10-12 kt/day.
