Iceberg lettuce. Early cultivation of iceberg lettuce: possible alternative to butterhead lettuce

Iceberg lettuce. Early cultivation of iceberg lettuce: possible alternative to butterhead lettuce

Proeftuinnieuws 9(14): 12-13

Thirteen iceberg lettuce cultivars were compared during 1999 at 3 sites (Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Londerzeel and Puurs) in Belgium. Cultivars were sown on 4 February 1999, planted out on 25 March and covered with fleece, and harvested at the end of May. Highest yields were obtained for Roxette (73 kg/100 heads), Dynamite (72 kg/100 heads), Vetonas and Claudette (both 70 kg/100 heads).
