Impact of salinity on growth, yield and salt tolerant limit of HYV rice (BR-16) in coastal saline soil

Effect of saline irrigation water (0.7-6.0 dS/m) on the growth and yield of HYV rice BR-16 was studied during the aus seasons (March-June) of 1993-95 in a coastal saline soil at Benerpota Agricultural Research Station, Satkhira, Bangladesh. Plant height, number of panicles/hill, number of filled grains/panicle, 100-filled grain weight, grain yield and duration of maturity decreased, while the number of unfilled grains/panicle increased with water salinity.
