In a field experiment in Denmark, white lupin (Lupinus albus) Lus304-70 seeds, weighing on average 196, 257 or 371 mg were sown on 7, 20 or 29 September at depths of 3, 6 or 9 cm. Delaying sowing to late September reduced plant size before winter by a factor of 3, and the number of main stem leaves by 6. Increasing seed size from 196 to 371 mg, increased plant size by 55% and the number of main stem leaves by 2.
